Some of the so-called issues that the BofM brings up have been beautifully explained and in many cases strengthened when they are coupled with the findings at Qumran ... the writings of Jeremiah in the DSS have made reference to what some have considered to be the BofM's greatest blunder in Alma 7:10 when referencing to the birth of the savior, for example, when in actuality it is in perfect harmony with the writings of Jeremiah, one of the contemporary prophets to Lehi and his family. Nephi carried with him the Brass Plates which contained a record of the Jews from the days of Moses till the days of King Zedekiah, king of the Jews and under the direction of the prophet Jeremiah. So yes sir, I disagree with you 100% because your conclusions can not be found true against what parameters you have chosen to exist in or in any parameter that attempts to discredit the latter-day Work.
Heed the warning given to us by the Men Mormon and Moroni when they both echo the same, in saying, "Condemn me not because of mine imperfection, neither my father, because of his imperfection, neither them who have written before him; but rather give thanks unto God that he hath made manifest unto you our imperfections, that ye may learn to be more wise than we have been." Mormon 9:31 - if you can't find a way past this, then there is nothing I could do to help your situation. If you can put your trust in God first and allow him to help you understand these things, then you will.
Continue to look to the left, or the right, on what he or she says... then you will not. There is far too much heat and little illumination on this matter. The book of Mormon is meant to be a faithful represention of a period in history. This histury should be easily verifiable if the contents depict events that happened. If the content contradicts radically known historical evidence then the book of Mormon stops being a verifiable historical record and becomes a set of parables useful for religious teaching, which would be of supreme interest to the LDS but be of little interest to any group outside the LDS. I could say the word "Ni...Alma no, Lehi, Yes.
I could say the word "Nine" and to you, it would mean 9 but to a German it would mean, "No." Shenanigans? Comparing apples to oranges? How about these:

"In addition to Alma and Sariah, a number of other Nephite names are attested in ancient Hebrew inscriptions. These include Aha, Ammonihah, Chemish, Hagoth, Himni, Isabel, Jarom, Josh, Luram, Mathoni, Mathonihah, Muloki, and Sam, none of which appear in English Bibles."

Sariah (rendered Seraiah in the Bible), Jehovah is Prince: Elephantine, Egypt, ca. 5th century BC.

Alma: A male Semitic name, Israel, early 2nd century BC; also Ebla, Syria, mid to late 3rd millennium BC.

Ether: Since that name predates the confusion of languages, I would expect to find no close parallels in any extant language.

Paanchi and Pahoran: Egyptian names attested from ancient sources completely unknown to Joseph Smith, Jr.

Aha, Hebrew, "brother," found in longer form in Ahijah, "Yah is my brother."

Ammonihah, Hebrew, found on two seals, at least one of which dates from the 7th century BC.

Chemish, possibly Courageous: Man's or woman's name, well attested as a root in other names -- refers to the deity Chemosh.

Hagoth: From Ammonite artifacts predating Lehi's time; related to Haggith, the root referring to a pilgrimage (like the Muslim hajj) It's quite a stretch, but it is remotely possible that he is connected with the Hawai'ian Ha'o'a.

"... the name Himni is clearly Hebrew and is represented by the unvocalized form, Hmn on two Israelite seals. The first, from the eighth century BC, was found at Megiddo in the Jezreel Valley. The other is from the first half of the seventh century BC."

Jarom: Exaltation. Related to Jehoram and Joram in the Bible.

Mathonihah and its hypocoristic Mathoni probably correspond to Mattaniah and Mattan, both well attested before or during Lehi's lifetime.

Mulek: King, hypocoristic form of Melchiah and Malchiah.

Muloki (my king?) -- Jerusalem, Mlky

Sam: possibly a hypocoristic form of Samuel (Shem + El, the name of God)

Enos: Hebrew, "Man." Grandson of Adam.

Jarom: Hebrew, used very irregularly as a baby boy's name.

Nephi: Egyptian -- good, fine, goodly, goodness or kindness. Attested as nfr.

Mosiah: I'm no linguist, but I think it's just a coristic form for Moses. [Edit: the term "coristic" is probably incorrect, but I use it in contrast to "hypocoristic" since I don't know the actual term to use. Coristic, then, would be a form of a name that includes the name of a God.]

Joseph Smith, Jr., had no way to learn or know anything of the Egyptian language or Egyptian names.
